Urban Agriculture Internships

Farm Internship

The Farm Internship program at Evanston Grows is designed to provide hands-on experience in urban agriculture and farming. We manage urban farm sites throughout Evanston, where we grow and distribute produce to our community. Interns gain practical skills in small-scale, organic, and sustainable food production, including seeding, transplanting, watering, soil practices, plant care, integrated pest management, food safety, harvesting, processing, and distribution of produce, as well as record keeping and volunteer management. The internship is a 10-week educational training program held seasonally in the Spring, Summer and Fall. At the end of each session, interns receive an Urban Agriculture Training Certificate.

Spring Session: April-June

Summer: June- August

Fall: August -October

Administrative & Educational Programming Internship

The Administrative & Educational Programming Internship program offers participants the opportunity to work on projects aligned with their interests while supporting our organization's mission. Interns can choose from a variety of projects, such as educational tool development for food literacy campaigns, nutrition facts and recipes for our farm stands, outreach activities to engage the community, data collection and impact measurement of our farms and food access programs, along with educational program support. The internship is a 10-week educational training program held seasonally in the Spring, Summer and Fall, and ranges in hours. Administrative & Educational Programming Interns receive a certificate of completion with their project highlighted.

Evanston Grows offers internships stipends. For college students, we offer placement and supervision hours to help meet major requirements.
